The Association of Clinical and Public Health Nutritionists in Finland, RTY, is the educational and professional interest organisation connecting nutritionists in Finland. RTY is a member organisation of the Finnish Association of Academic Agronomists.

RTY works to promote development in the field of nutrition and health education. It submits proposals and issues statements on nutritional topics. RTY also organizes updating training in matters of nutrition and produces materials for nutritional guidance.

RTY was founded in 1970. Currently, there are nearly 800 members, including student members. Members have a master’s degree in nutrition or in clinical nutrition. Many members undertake post-graduate research to a doctoral level.

Majority of the members have the competence of a Registered Dietitian. The competence of Registered Dietitians is monitored and controlled by the National Supervisory for Welfare and Health (Valvira).

Members’ scientific background is extensive, covering knowledge of food and nutrition as well as other related disciplines, for example chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, medicine, psychology and the social sciences.

Members work on many fields: clinical and community health nutrition, research, consultancy, education, industry and catering services.

Education in Nutrition at the University of Helsinki: The Master’s Programme in Human Nutrition and Food-Related Behaviour (HNFB) focuses on human nutrition and food-related behaviour and consumption from the perspectives of public health nutrition, nutritional physiology and the social sciences. RTY is a member of EFAD (European Federation of the Associations of Dietitians) and ICDA (International Confederation of Dietetic Associations).
